Udne Do (उड़ने दो)

Abstract

Udne Do is a devised production presented by the 12th Batch students of the National School of Drama, Theatre-in-Education Wing, Tripura. Aruna Kumar Malik is credited with scenography, design and direction. Raman Kumar served as Assistant Director and handled light design. The production includes music by Ajay Kumar, lyrics by Dr. Mamta Dhawan, sound design by Santosh Kumar Singh, choreography by Moon Moon Singh, and script adaptation and costume design by Shweta Srivastava. The production was scheduled at Town Hall, Agartala, Tripura, on 6, 7 and 8 May at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with an additional show on 9 May at 6:30 p.m. UDNE DO A devised play, based on the Novel by Antoine de Saint Exupéry,’The Little Prince’. The adaptation resonates from a child’s perspective about a boy who wanted to be an artist, but was imposed with logic, numbers, profession and power, forgetting how to see the world with wonder. The Little Prince reminds us that true value cannot be measured or seen; it can only be felt through love and feeling of joy. Through a young voyager from Asteroid B-612, he traverses the space, to different planets, searching love, friendship, and kindness that can never be seen through eyes, and there he saw the eccentric ‘grown-ups’ getting too stressed about money, work, pride and power, as they have forgotten, how to dream and to appreciate the nature around! The play is truly an exploration of the human soul and the invisible threads that connect us to one another. The play reminds us to always keep the child inside us alive that stays curious, imaginative, kind and who never stops wondering about the world he is in.
